CDFAS becomes Athletica
For almost 30 years, the CDFAS has been welcoming athletes from all walks of life. Initially built in 1993 to accommodate the local sports movement, the CDFAS quickly won over top-level clubs and French and foreign federations, who quickly made the facility their own as a preparation center for major international events. In fact, the departmental dimension emphasized in the initial name of Centre Départemental de Formation et d'Animations Sportives, no longer found a legitimate echo.
Similarly, since the end of 2017, the structure has stepped up its commitment and innovative investments to become a genuine resource center for athletes.
The CDFAS thus becomes... Athletica!
Now a member of the Réseau Grand INSEP, and a major player in the Maison Régionale de la Performance program, Athletica has carved out a place for itself among the major national sports structures for the development of high-level athletes.
Athletica was awarded the "Centre de Préparation des Jeux" (Games Preparation Center) label in 2020, then the "High Performance Training Center" label by the USOPC (United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee / Team USA) in the same year, and is now an integral part of the select circle of major international sports facilities.
So, on the eve of writing a new page in the structure's history with the hosting of the entire American Olympic and Paralympic delegation at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it seemed essential to start this new book with a more international-sounding name more in line with its core business.
Athletica designates the athlete as the central element of our business and our values. The athlete in all his or her dimensions, whether professional or amateur, mature or under construction, is at the heart of our commitment to serving sport and those who want to surpass their performance. The "Graines de champions" baseline underlines our major positioning in the 13/19 age group.
The aim of this new naming scheme is to raise Athletica's profile on the international scene of top-level sports facilities. To give it a larger dimension in line with its physical evolution and its commitment to the evolution of sport and athletes.
